Accessible by minibus.
If approaching from the south it is recommended to keep on the A5092 until passed Gawthwaite, about 1/2 a mile out of the village take a right turn at the brow of the hill, follow this for approx 1 1/2 miles towards Woodland (a place name). Take the first turn right, and immediately take the road on the left up to Birchbank. Shown in blue on the map below. If coming from the north don’t follow google maps as it will take you across the fell, follow the route highlighted on the map below.
