Access to venue

Not accessible by coach. Accessible by minibus. Drop off is usually at Bowlees Visitor Centre. The access track to the campsite is rough but passable with care. Ensure all gates are closed as this is a working farm.

Specific Issues

A lot of the paths are on the riverbanks. Please ensure your groups are aware of the risks walking on the rivers edge.

Groups are only to cross rivers using the footbridges (or road bridges).

Expeditions tend to start and finish at Bowlees Visitor Centre. Care needed crossing the road near the centre. Please supervise groups, especially on the way out.

There are a number of shake holes in the area, please make your group aware of these and the risks associated with them.

Midges can be an issue in the summer.

At start of expedition it is easier if Sam Sykes staff in their own vehicles park at the campsite and proceed on foot to Bowlees as the transfer by road is long.

Toilet roll needs to be brought to site.
