Specific Issues
If anyone is sleeping indoors the shutters need to be removed for fire safety regulations.
The hut has basic facilities, there is a tap outside, you need to turn on the larger of the 2 taps to get the water to flow. It is advised to run the water for a couple of minutes. Please be aware that ALL water requires either boiling or filtering as it is accessed from the stream. The hut has a stove and filters that can be used to treat water.
It is advised to wash pans prior to use.
Access to the hut is with keys kept in a key safe to the rear of the hut.
If required there is a generator. This is stored in the toilet area, and is connected outside at the rear of the hut. Instructions on how to use the generator are in the toilet cubicle.
Midges can be an issue in the summer.
Due to the remote nature of the hut in the event of an emergency or the casualty not being able to walk Mountain Rescue will be required.
A lot of the paths in the area are not walked on frequently and can be hard to find.
