Kayaking is a really interesting and rewarding way to travel on a DofE expedition. Participants will need to be competent in a kayak and trained for the challenges the expedition holds.

Sam Sykes uses the very best British Canoeing instructors and equipment, along with hugely experienced technical advisors to work with our customers in formulating a safe, challenging and enjoyable kayaking expedition. We will work with you to devise a training schedule, practice and assessed expeditions as well as robust logistical plans so that you can offer kayaking to your participants with confidence.

Sam Sykes has a history of kayaking expeditions throughout the Western Isles of Scotland, the northern coast of Ireland and Vancouver in Canada.

Typical DofE kayaking expeditions in the UK focus on the Thames, Wye, Great Glen and some other major river systems. Larger lakes and lochs in the UK are an option, as well as the sea, but each type of expedition requires wide ranging training schedules.
